On Thursday in the top of the third inning of Game 5 of the ALCS with his former team, Iglesias showed exactly why the Tigers wanted him.
Positioned on the other side of second base in a patented shift with designated hitter David Ortiz at the plate, Iglesias was certainly not in the right spot to catch a fly ball in short left field.
That's exactly what Iglesias did, flashing both great speed and incredible hand-eye coordination in making the catch after a full sprint of at least 100 feet.
To say that experts and pundits were blown away would be an understatement:
Fans on Twitter chimed in with their thoughts as well:
The Tigers ultimately lost 4-3, but they'll certainly remember this particular play by Iglesias, and they'll be happy he's in Motown for the foreseeable future as well.
