A J.R. Smith Fan Split His Earnings from Video Game Bet with the Knicks Guard

New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith made money off a video game bet that he wasn't even a part of. Well, technically he was.

A fan bet his friend $120 that, with Smith alone, he could outscore the entire Miami Heat team in NBA 2K13. As surprising as it may seem, he won that bet. The fan felt it was only fair that he give half of his earnings to Smith for "helping" him.

Smith posted the fan's letter on his Instagram account:

It's definitely a cool story, and it's even better that Smith gave a shout-out to his fan.

Hat tip to SB Nation for the find.
