Alabama survived unscathed against Chattanooga and is now poised to play in one of the most anticipated Iron Bowl showdowns in years. The No. 1 Crimson Tide have a chance to earn the three-peat as national champions if they can get past No. 4 Auburn.

Head coach Nick Saban spoke with the media after the game and talked about what his program must do to get a win next week, as per the staff of RollTide.com

Our focus needs to immediately shift to the opportunities that we have created for ourselves in the games that we have in the future. Obviously, the one we have this week against Auburn is a very important game. They have a great team and have had a great season. It’s going to be important for everybody in our organization to make a commitment to doing their very best job and play our best football because that’s probably what it’s going to take to have success against a very good team.

Florida State is in prime position to challenge ‘Bama for the crystal trophy, with the No. 2 Seminoles dropping a school-record 80 points against the Idaho Vandals. Jameis Winston put a bow on his Heisman campaign with another 225 yards and four touchdowns on the day.

Ohio State continued its unbeaten streak that began back at the start of the 2012 campaign. The No. 3 Buckeyes vanquished Indiana and have only Michigan to take care of for a second straight undefeated campaign.

Baylor fell from No. 3 to No. 9 after Oklahoma State completely dismantled the Bears. The No. 7 Cowboys put on a clinic and wound up winning a lopsided contest, 49-17. Pokes quarterback Clint Chelf was dominant and connected on 19 of 25 throws for 370 yards and three passing scores.

Oregon also dropped significantly down the ladder upon losing to unheralded Arizona. The Wildcats tamed the No. 12 Ducks’ high-flying offense in the 42-16 victory. This result has made the BCS picture quite interesting with the regular season winding down.

There were a handful of other results this past week that also had an impact on the latest rankings.

No. 13 Arizona State moved up the polls after a win over No. 22 UCLA, while No. 15 LSU took care of business against Johnny Manziel and No. 19 Texas A&M.

Notre Dame moved into the rankings this week at No. 25 after the Fighting Irish dispatched the BYU Cougars.
