UFC 103: Lyoto Machida vs. Rampage Jackson – Not really happening

Tony AContributor IMay 28, 2009

Update!!!
It’s official!
Dana White announced on “Inside The Octagon” that Lyoto “The dragon“ Machida will defend his light heavyweight titles agents Mauricio “Shogun ” Rua at UFC 104, October 24 in Staples Center, Los Angeles.

As I reported earlier:
According to Lyoto Machida’s official Web page, he will face Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at UFC 103 for the light heavyweight championship.

Update!
Rampage is officially of the title shot, once again.
He has expressed a wish to fight Rashad Evans instead of Machida.

The two coaches for season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter will be Jackson and Evans. We all know that after every season, the two coaches square off against each other. Jackson and Evans are expected to fight each other in December this year.

The bottom line: UFC president Dana White wants to see Jackson and Evans fight, so TUF season 10 would be a great opportunity to hype a grudge match that will happen in the near future.

These new events present new possibilities for other top fighters.
As it seems for the moment Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will fight Lyoto Machida for the title. The contract signing isn’t yet finalized with Rua. But it’s pretty much a done deal.
