Ohio State added a standout defender to its 2015 recruiting class Sunday. The Buckeyes secured a commitment from 247Sports 4-star cornerback Jamel Dean, providing a building block for Urban Meyer's future prospect haul.

Dean delivered the news on Twitter, expressing his excitement about creating a verbal pact with the BCS title contender.

The 6'1", 180-pound playmaker stars at Cocoa High School on the east coast of Florida. He visited Columbus in late October, watching the Buckeyes beat Penn State in emphatic fashion.

The experience was an eye-opener for Dean, according to his conversation with Cleveland.com writer Ari Wasserman.

“It was unlike anything I have ever seen,” Dean told Wasserman. “I looked up into the stadium, and it was really big, and there wasn’t one empty seat in the entire place. I never really saw anything like that in my entire life.”

His offer list is already quite expansive and features Florida, Temple, Mississippi State and Miami. Dean attended a June camp in Gainesville, where he received an offer from the Gators.

Aside from football, Dean is already an accomplished sprinter and long-jumper. He was named the All-Space Coast Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

He is listed as the nation's No. 16 junior cornerback and Florida's No. 23 overall 2015 prospect in 247Sports' composite rankings.

Dean is the second member of Ohio State's 2015 class. He joins fellow 4-star cornerback Eric Glover-Williams (Canton, Ohio), who is the nation's ninth-ranked player at the position.

"You don’t get a lot of opportunities as good as Ohio State,” Dean told Wasserman. “I know that’s where I want to go, so I didn’t feel like waiting anymore. It is a great program and I am exciting. It feels good to officially be a Buckeye.”

Meyer has managed to collect commitments from a dynamic 2015 defensive back duo while putting the finishing touches on one of the country's top 2014 recruiting classes.
