This Week in Annoying: The Worst in Sports Right Now
Happy Holidays! Now here are some items that might wipe that smile off your face.
And really, who wants to be jolly all week long? It's important to remember that wrapped gifts yield paper strewn about the house and all those delicious treats will go straight to your hips and never come off.
Oh, this wonderful sports world has some figurative turds in the punch bowl as well, and that's what we do here on a weekly basis: bring you the latest in all that is wrong in sport.
Of course, you can get in on the action in the comments section below. For now, kick up your feet and click through some misery.
Friday Night Yikes
Before you watch this trailer for a new show premiering on Esquire Network on Jan. 14, we encourage you to once again take a gander at this parody from Funny or Die.
Friday Night Tykes has the same barking coaches and over-the-top presentation, only it's real.
I'd like to take this moment to thank my parents for not acting like dropped balls in the outfield and strikeouts at the hands of other Little Leaguers were as life and death as these parents and coaches do about their kid's football success.
Football in Texas is, well, scary.
Super Bowl Destroyed the 'Budget' in Budget Hotels
The Super Bowl is horrible on the wallet.
Reuters' Victoria Cavaliere reports hotels, and even citizens with extra room in their homes and rentals, are charging outrageous prices for fans headed to New Jersey for the big game.
The report delves further into some gaudy prices, but the most shocking is the price for a room at a "budget" hotel. Rooms normally going for $100 are being rented for $1,000.
But hey, we are sure you all saved on those inexpensive tickets.
Almost as Bad as George Clooney's Batman
From the land of "so bad it's great" comes this video of MMA fighters engaged in a brawl, only they dressed up as Batman, Robin and Spider-Man first.
Although, calling some of this fighting might be silly, because Batman here makes Adam West look like Chuck Norris. And don't get me started on Robin, who actually makes everything Joel Schumacher did to the series seem suddenly watchable.
That's Not Right
Calendars have quickly become about as useful as a bunch of papers stuck together with arbitrary numbers printed on them. The last time I used a calendar I had to move The Yellow Pages to get to it.
However, we are glad someone is still pumping them out, because we get to see a gaffe that should have some Celtics fans smacking their heads at the moment.
The only thing better would be Doc Rivers replacing Kevin Garnett on this here cover.
LeBron James' Swing
However, Next Impulse Sports' Paul Sacca spotted this commercial that highlights a swing so atrocious it's actually quite endearing.
Now you can hold your head up high the next time you run through a sleeve of golf balls because of that horrible slice. Even the best basketball player in the world has issues on the links.
