Manchester United will be encouraged to hear transfer target Angel Di Maria will not be the subject of a bid from French champions Paris St Germain, opening the door for United manager David Moyes to make a bid in January, reports Mercato365 (via Ian Holyman of ESPN FC).

Speaking to the media ahead of PSG’s friendly Thursday against Madrid in Doha, Qatar, manager Laurent Blanc said:

All good players are welcome at PSG. But we're talking about a player who's at Real Madrid, one of the best clubs in Europe. I'll be happy to see him play, just like all the Real Madrid players. But signing him is not on the agenda.

Moyes will be looking to bolster his squad after a frustrating summer, during which the Premier League champions' only notable signings were Marouane Fellaini and youngster Wilfried Zaha.

United suffered their sixth defeat of the season Wednesday to Tottenham, their fourth at home after another abject defensive performance. United have relied on the brilliance of Wayne Rooney and the emergence of youngster Adnan Januzaj to keep pace with the top-four chasers but look bereft of variety in the final third.

The signing of Di Maria would not only be welcomed by the Old Trafford faithful but would boost United as they try to finish in the top four whilst battling on several more fronts in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Ben Burrows of the Daily Mirror Online has previously highlighted Moyes' admiration for Di Maria, who has the talent to drastically improve United's attack. Moyes is in need of a more dynamic threat out wide, where the likes of Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young have struggled this season.

The Argentine winger has become surplus to requirements at Real Madrid after the Galacticos signed Gareth Bale during the summer. Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has preferred to use Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and midfielder Isco to support lone striker Karim Benzema.

Di Maria, who was the subject of interest from Arsenal in the summer, as reported by BBC Sport’s David Ornstein, has played 23 games in all competitions this season and has scored six goals, as per Transfermarkt.

Despite being happy to stay at Madrid last summer, the winger must ensure he finds himself at a club that offers plenty of first-team opportunities in the second half of the season, as he hopes to make an impact for Argentina at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

United will have to ward off interest from big spenders Monaco that have repeatedly shown interest in Di Maria.

According to Ben Jefferson of The Express, Di Maria is already negotiating with the French giants, with coach Claudio Ranieri earmarking the Argentine as another key component of his current project with Monaco.

However, Danny Griffiths of Metro reports that Di Maria is in fact more likely to snub United in order to move to Italian giants Juventus, where he would join fellow Argentine Carlos Tevez.
