For the most part, Alabama has taken the drama away from National Signing Day.

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide currently have 24 commitments for the class of 2014 and are sitting with the No. 1 class with a pretty sizable lead on No. 2 Ohio State, according to 247Sports. Alabama has locked in top prospects, with eight already on campus, and has just about hit all of its points of need.

But, like any signing day, there will still be a few targets still up in the air to keep an eye on.

Here are three names to watch between now and signing day.

Rashaan Evans

1 of 3

With four linebackers already committed to the class, the Tide look to be set at that position, but they can’t pass up a talent like Evans.

Evans, a 5-star prospect from Auburn, Ala., is listed as the No. 15 overall player and No. 3 outside linebacker.

He will choose between his hometown Auburn Tigers, Alabama and Georgia, with Auburn considered the heavy favorite. But with an Alabama official visit lined up for January 17, there is still time for movement on his front.

Matt Elam

2 of 3

One piece Alabama lacked this season was a dominant nose tackle. Brandon Ivory and Darren Lake did a serviceable job filling in for the departed Jesse Williams, but there was never the constant disruption that guys like Williams, Josh Chapman and Terrence Cody brought before them.

While Alabama already has a commitment from 4-star Josh Frazier, who 247Sports lists as a top-10 nose tackle prospect, Elam would be a huge get—literally and figuratively.

The 6’5”, 372-pound Elam is rated the top defensive tackle in the class and would likely get playing time right away. He will decide between Kentucky, Notre Dame and Alabama, with Kentucky considered to have a slight edge over the Tide and Irish.

Marlon Humphrey

3 of 3

Humphrey is really the only one of the three that you could say Alabama “needs” to get. Alabama couldn’t find a consistent No. 2 cornerback across from Deion Belue this season, and with Belue gone the position will be wide open.

Even with the commitment of 5-star Tony Brown, Alabama still should lock down Humphrey for a number of reasons.

He is a 5-star prospect and top cornerback in the class. To add to that, he’s the top recruit in the state of Alabama. While Alabama has gone national with its recruiting recently, it’s always important to win your home state.

Humphrey is considered a Tide favorite, with Florida State still in the mix.
