Switzerland overcame a 2-0 deficit after two periods to capture their first medal in women's ice hockey.

Sara Benz and Phoebe Stanz scored to tie the game at 2-2 before Jessica Lutz put Switzerland ahead to stay with 6:17 left in the third period. An empty-net goal by 15-year-old Alina Muller turned out to be the game winner.

Sweden got on the board on a goal by Michelle Lowenhielm who put a bouncing puck into the net. Late in the second period, Erica Uden Johansson made it 2-0 on a knuckle ball of a shot.

After a slow start, the bronze medal game turned out to be a well-played game that was full of drama.
