There may be the conclusion of the Premier League and a World Cup to go before the transfer window re-opens, but that doesn't mean the rumour mill stops turning and churning out transfer speculation.

Spurred on by a 24-hour instant gratification culture, Liverpool rarely remain out of the headlines as far as potential signings are concerned.

This week has been no different with reports across Europe suggesting the Reds are on the trail of several hot prospects to boost their squad in time for hopeful Champions League football next season.

Alex Miller reported in the Daily Mail last week that Brendan Rodgers will be backed with a £60million transfer war chest by the club's owners, should they secure Champions League qualification this season.

However, shaping an improved squad may also see some familiar faces leave the set-up, too.

Here we sift through the rubbish and bring you the key transfer rumours surrounding Liverpool this week.

David Hynter of the Guardian says Liverpool sent scouts to watch Austrian defender Martin Hinteregger in action during last week's international friendlies.

Coincidentally Hinteregger was marking Reds' forward Luis Suarez and did a good job in the 1-1 draw.

Could the 21-year-old Red Bull Salzburg defender be seen as a long-term centre-back partner for Mamadou Sakho?

Prior to the international breaks, Liverpool scouts were in Spain watching Valencia central midfielder Dani Parejo, according to talkSPORT.

Fans at the Mestalla Stadium aren't enjoying the best of seasons, with Los Che languishing in mid-table in La Liga, but Parejo has been one of Valencia's better performers.

According to Squawka, he's created 38 chances this season and boasts a pass accuracy of 87 percent.

With Luis Alberto lurking amongst Liverpool's fringe players, however, a move for another non-defensive-minded central midfielder at Anfield seems unlikely.

Andalucia-based newspaper El Desmarque (in Spanish) suggests that Sevilla could make a move to buy highly-rated Liverpool youngster Suso on a permanent deal in the summer.

Suso has spent the season on loan at Almeria, scoring twice in 25 La Liga appearances.

Rodgers' comments to the Liverpool Echo on Sunday saying he has been impressed with Suso's loan spell do throw this rumour somewhat into doubt.

But could Liverpool use Suso as a bargaining tool for Ivan Rakitic, as suggested by Tom Thorogood of Here Is The City.

Andre Ayew (IN)

After missing out on several attacking midfielders last summer and in January—including Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Willian, Mohamed Salah and Yevhen Konoplyanka—Ghana Web claims Marseille winger Andre Ayew could be the next target for Liverpool.

However, the article claims several Italian clubs are also vying for his signature, and the 24-year-old could cost upwards of €25 million.

With Pepe Reina's loan spell at Napoli coming to an end in the summer, the Spanish goalkeeper looks set to be looking for a new permanent club.

Manchester United are the latest to be linked with a move for the 31-year-old, who spent eight seasons at Anfield before joining former Reds' boss Rafa Benitez in Naples.

Tutto Mercato Web (in Italian) suggests David Moyes may be eyeing up Reina as a replacement for the under-performing David De Gea, with scouts said to have watched Reina in Napoli's recent 3-1 win over Swansea.
