The Simpsons Predicts 2014 World Cup Final, Which Homer Referees in Latest Show

Mark PattersonUK Staff WriterApril 1, 2014

The Simpsons have zipped forward in time and called the World Cup final for us.

With Homer refereeing the final (obviously) it was never going to run smoothly and, according to the screengrab above from 101 Great Goals, Germany sink Brazil 2-0.

Brazil are most people's favourites for the tournament on their home soil, although that said Germany are certainly one of Europe's best prospects for glory, with a strong and settled team.

And there's even some footage of the episode, entitled You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee, on the internet, featuring the over-exuberance of Spanish-language football commentator Andres Cantor:

The Simpsons have gone football-crazy in recent times, with Chelsea stars getting the cartoon treatment back in February, and Barcelona enjoying the same just a couple of weeks later.

If the show feels like it has been around forever, then let's put it this way—it has been on air since before the 1990 World Cup in Italy, which means it has seen West Germany, Brazil (twice), France, Italy and Spain crowned champions.
