The Biggest Hits in World Rugby This Week: Gloucester and Bath Trade Blows

Tempers flared on both sides of the equator this weekend when both the West Country derby between Gloucester and Bath and the all-Australian affair between Super Rugby's Queensland Reds and Brumbies featured heated punch-ups.

At Kingsholm, two red cards and five yellows were handed out in what turned out to be a very physical encounter, while the Brumbies' Stephen Moore got off considerably lighter for the hook thrown in his matchup.

Elsewhere in Oz, the Western Force's defence once again proved vital in seeing the ever-improving Perth outfit move past the Waratahs, but victory didn't come without a few big hits thrown into the cauldron.

In France's Top 14, Mathieu Bastareaud was up to his old tricks, delivering a monstrous blow to Bordeaux's Metuisela Talebula, the Toulon centre giving us, not for the first time and probably not the last, a hit-of-the-week nomination.

Fans will also wince at some of those crushing (but illegal) tackles and fends delivered in the Pro12, which you can feast your eyes upon in the biggest hits in world rugby this week.
