The legend of Emile Heskey lives. Sort of.

One man petitioned to have the former Aston Villa and Birmingham City man knighted. Unfortunately for fans of Heskey everywhere, David Cameron's government rejected the petition.

In the petition, Daniel McCarthy wrote: "Emile has changed the way the game is played, he is an experienced, well-loved and all round genius player."

Sir Emile Heskey will have to wait.
