Bob Bubka, a radio personality who has covered the PGA Tour for the past four years on World Golf Radio, predicted before the tournament that Lucas Glover would take the win.
Now if he picked Tiger Woods, this wouldn't even been a story. But picking Lucas Glover is just insane. Glover may never win another major in his career.
Apparently Bubka had dinner with Butch Harmon, the late Dick Harmon's brother who mentored Glover. Butch told Bubka that Glover was looking pretty good. Bubka then sought out Glover and his caddie. They told the radio personality that Glover discovered something during the US Open qualifier and Bubka decided to take a waiver on him.
It paid off and got him some press. Mark Herrmann of Newsday has the story.
Speaking of Glover, Rick Reilly of ESPN.com had an atrocious column on how the golfer didn't celebrate enough after he won the US Open.
Who are you, Rick Reilly a shriveled old man, to say how much someone should celebrate? Reilly has had some very good columns, but is out of place here.
