Mauricio Pochettino's appointment as Tottenham Hotspur manager last week has seen an intensification of transfer speculation surrounding the club.

Just how long Tottenham will take to come to life in this transfer window is unclear. With players either on holiday or on international duty ahead of the World Cup, it may be the case that little actually happens until pre-season gets underway.

Nonetheless, check back here for the latest Spurs transfer rumours to see what might be on the cards come July.

You never know, there might actually be something real to report, too.

Hull Put off by Spurs' Price for Livermore?

    Sunday, June 8

The Sunday People's Alan Nixon reports Hull City may have been put off buying Jake Livermore by Tottenham's price-tag.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Hull, and is said to be valued at £6.5 million by the north London club.

Nixon's assessment of the suggested price as "staggering"—and so he writes, Hull's too—seems over the top, though.

Livermore is a proven Premier League performer who at 24 has plenty of time ahead of him. Far from staggering, in today's transfer market £6.5 million would be a bargain.

    Sunday, June 8

Atletico Madrid's Toby Alderweireld is being targeted by Tottenham, according to the Sunday People's Neil Moxley.

The versatile defender is said to have "been recommended to Mauricio Pochettino by his scouts as Tottenham’s new boss seeks to revamp his squad."

Moxley notes Alderweireld's availability could depend on whether his Atletico team-mate Miranda is sold.

Currently on World Cup duty with Belgium, Alderweireld was frequently linked with a move to Spurs prior to moving to Spain. The 25-year-old's name was being mentioned as late as last August, as this Sky Sports story from the time details.

Via their official website, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Friday that Grant Hall will spend 2014-15 on loan with Birmingham City.

The 22-year-old was at Swindon Town for the duration of last season, featuring 34 times for the League One side.

It was confirmed in the Premier League's retained and released list last month that Hall's contract with Spurs had been extended. Evidently, though, the defender has not been deemed ready to compete for a place in the first-team.

Moving up to Championship level now, the hope will be Hall continues to progress.

    UPDATE: Friday, June 6

The Daily Express' Ben Jefferson was among those reporting late on Thursday that Tottenham were not, in fact, interested in Moreno.

    Thursday, June 5

The Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel reports Tottenham have joined Liverpool and Chelsea in registering their interest in Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.

The La Liga club are said to value the Spain international at £25 million. Mokbel believes Spurs are willing to offer £14 million "plus Roberto Soldado on loan and including midfielder Etienne Capoue."

The status of two of last summer's signings is currently uncertain and is unlikely to be clarified until pre-season begins.

It is widely held now, however, that new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign a new left-back.

Serie A Clubs Want Sandro and Dembele?

    Wednesday, June 4

The Mirror's Darren Lewis and John Cross are talking up interest from two Serie A clubs in Sandro and Mousa Dembele respectively.

Napoli are said to be prepared to offer £8 million for Sandro, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is "attempting to scare them off by demanding double that figure."

Should Spurs consider a bid for the Brazilian, they could look to negotiate a cash-plus-player swap deal including Napoli's Switzerland international Blerim Dzemaili.

Lewis' talk of Sandro being unsettled under previous Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood is somewhat superfluous now, though, given the player should get a fresh start with Mauricio Pochettino in charge.

Meanwhile Cross writes Roma are keen on Dembele, valuing the Spurs midfielder at £8 million too.

Jones reports Janmaat would cost in the region of £6 million, and is also the subject of interest from Napoli. The same story also mentions possible interest from Spurs in left-backs Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea) and Ben Davies (Swansea City).

Currently on loan with Newell's Old Boys, Banega was this week omitted from Argentina's World Cup squad.

Cross writes that Mauricio Pochettino is considering bidding for his £5 million-rated compatriot, but Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is confident of his chances of bringing Banega to the Stadium of Light.

    Tuesday, June 3

Speaking on talkSPORT's Alan Brazil Breakfast Show, Michael Dawson has rejected rumours he will be leaving Tottenham this summer.

    Monday, June 2

The Daily Mail's Simon Jones believes Tottenham captain Michael Dawson is top of Hull City manager Steve Bruce's transfer "wishlist."

Jones also reports Bruce is still attempting to arrange the permanent transfer of Jake Livermore from Spurs. The midfielder is fresh off a successful season on loan with the Tigers.

Michael's brother, Andy, played for Hull for a decade up until last year.

    UPDATE: Monday, June 2

In a statement on their official website, Southampton confirmed the club had "received multiple offers for some of our players in the past weeks."

However, save for the sale of Rickie Lambert to Liverpool, they do not plan "to partake in any transfers until the new manager is in place."

If Spurs and Pochettino are interested in Wanyama or anyone else from Southampton, they are going to have to wait.

    Monday, June 2

Sky Sports reported on Sunday that Tottenham are unlikely to move for Southampton's Adam Lallana. The England international's more likely destination if he leaves is still thought to be Liverpool.

Mauricio Pochettino could be interested in bringing in Victor Wanyama from his former club, though.

The Daily Mail's David Kent believes the defensive midfielder "was regarded as the unsung hero" by Pochettino in his Saints side last season.

Having only joined the club from Celtic for £12 million the previous summer, he is unlikely to come cheap if he becomes available.

The Daily Star's Bruce Archer reports Tottenham are among a host of Premier League clubs interested in Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij.

A member of the Netherlands World Cup squad, the 22-year-old appears to have confirmed his intention to leave his current club this summer.

"The chances are that I will leave, I can probably confirm this," he said (via RTV Rijnmond).

Spurs Interested in Balotelli?

    Monday, June 2

With Mario Balotelli's AC Milan future uncertain, the Daily Express' Ben Jefferson believes Tottenham could be one of several English sides looking to sign the Italy international.

Jefferson says Spurs are "thought to harbour an interest in the 23-year-old," reportedly also a target of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Talented as Balotelli is, Spurs would be advised to steer clear of a man who has proved trouble wherever he has been. Lest we forget, he is the man who tried to put his boot through Scott Parker's skull during a match versus Manchester City in 2012.
