The end has come for the United States. It wasn't for lack of effort or lack of fight.

The US fought Belgium to a scoreless stalemate until extra time, then the quality of the Red Devils proved to be too much. Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring a few minutes into extra time and Romelu Lukaku added another in the 105th minute.

The youngster Julian Green got the USA on the board with a beautiful finish of a Michael Bradley chip pass. But it just wasn't enough for the United States. What the Americans will be lamenting over for the next four years is the Chris Wondolowski miss from point-blank range that would have put the US ahead in the final minutes.

In the end, Belgium moves on and the USA goes home. The Red Devils will take on Argentina in their quarterfinal matchup.
