The Premier League season is only days away and focus is laid firmly at the door of Manchester United and who they will add to their squad to support Louis van Gaal's first year in charge.

However, United fans are starting to worry.

While the Red Devils have been linked with a host of star names, they have so far only signed Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera—with Shaw now being ruled out for a month due to a hamstring injury.

Will the club be able to bring in the quality they need before their first game against Swansea?

Here we look at the latest gossip and news surrounding the team.

With Arturo Vidal unlikely to join Manchester United, Louis van Gaal is now focussing his attention on Inter Milan's Fredy Guarin.

Alex Richards of the Mirror says that Corriere dello Sport believe Vidal will stay with Juventus, prompting a move for the Colombian midfielder.

Guarin featured for his country at the recent World Cup and his box-to-box qualities are something that United require.

    Thursday, August 14

Dutch international Daley Blind has been spotted house hunting in the north west of England as he awaits Manchester United to agree a fee with Ajax for his services.

Tom Collomosse of the Standard reports that the defender has been looking at properties near Manchester as the deal nears completion.

Blind had previously said to Goal.com that a move to United would be "very hard" to reject, per Collomosse:

Of course, it's flattering when you're linked with clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona. It would be very hard to turn down these kind of clubs. But there's no serious interest as of yet. There are plenty of players who promise to stay and then leave after all.

I am keeping my options open. I am very happy in Amsterdam and at Ajax, but you never know what could happen.

Blind would currently walk straight into the Old Trafford first team, with the club suffering an ever extending injury list.

Juan Cuadrado has told Fiorentina that he will leave the club during the current transfer window, with Manchester United a possible destination.

Simon Rice of The Independent reports that the Italian club's president Andrea Della told Sport Mediaset:

I met with Juan (Cuadrado) today, and he asked me if he could leave. I asked him, 'Stay one more year', but I’m not optimistic. Faced with an important offer, the boy wants to leave. We’ll give ourselves time until the end of August, but even without him we’ll be ultra-competitive.

And Rice also reports that in light of Barcelona's interest in the player, Catalan newspaper Sport believe that United have already signed Cuadrado despite there being no formal public announcement yet.

However, James Dickenson of the Express says the 26-year-old winger will snub United in favour of a dream move to the Nou Camp, per Mundo Deportivo.

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted his team lacks a world-class winger—and he has specifically name-dropped reported summer target Angel Di Maria.

Sky Sports quotes the Dutchman speaking to the Sunday Mirror about positions he would like to strengthen:

I should say, we don't have wingers of the highest level, like [Cristiano] Ronaldo or Di Maria or somebody like that. So, I have to play in another way—and you have seen that already. I only buy when I think we need to buy—in the position that is necessary.

The Argentina winger is on the market after Real Madrid signed Colombian international James Rodriguez.
