With TNA's future up in the air, Kurt Angle is reportedly keen to negotiate a return to WWE—but is Vince McMahon interested in giving the star another shot with the company?
Well, per Dave Meltzer in this week's (subscribers-only) Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE boss is strongly against bringing in Angle, despite the wrestler reaching out to management in recent times.
Angle is trying to pitch WWE on a deal that would be similar to the schedule Michaels did in his final years with the company, where he worked big shows and limited dates. As best we can tell, WWE hasn’t shown much interest. As noted before, in the past, Vince McMahon was extremely negative on the idea of bringing Angle back.
While many Angle fans may be disappointed by this news, they can't be altogether surprised. The Sharknado 2 star has been hindered with various neck problems and injuries over the past few years. It's no wonder McMahon doesn't want to sign him and put him back in the ring again, even on a limited schedule.
However, I don't think WWE should rule out using the star in any capacity.
Why not get him under contract again? If only so the company can finally do the great DVD profile set on him that everyone has been waiting for.
Angle—undoubtedly one of the best technical wrestlers WWE ever produced—would surely be an asset as a trainer down in FCW. He could also be very useful as a goodwill ambassador and help promote the company.
He'd be a useful participant in various WWE Network documentaries too. Or you could bring him back as a manager or authority figure on Raw.
There are plenty of things you could do with the former TNA champion, even if you don't want to put him in the ring.
Honestly, despite what McMahon may be saying now, it's a bit hard to believe fans will never see Angle in WWE ever again.
