The Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn saga will continue on Tuesday's WWE SmackDown.
Circumstances will force The Prizefighter and his loyal yes man to fight each other. The winner of their clash in Kansas City, Missouri, will earn a WWE Championship match against AJ Styles at Fastlane on March 11.
Just the idea of trading blows with that kind of prize at stake left the best friends at odds. They were supposed to battle alongside each other in a tag team match but spent more time infighting than dealing with their opponents.
Now their No. 1 contender's bout threatens to dismantle their alliance altogether.
A HUGE main event takes place TOMORROW NIGHT on #SDLive at 8/7c on @USA_Network as @FightOwensFight & @SamiZayn put their friendship to the ultimate test with a trip to #WWEFastlane against @WWE Champion @AJStylesOrg on the line! https://t.co/tD79BmQdtV2018-2-6 01:58:27
The rest of SmackDown's docket includes a United States Championship match, a chance at revenge and a new ranking system's first appearance. News updates, SmackDown preview on WWE.com and storyline projections help preview what's ahead on the latest episode.
Take a dive into it all before SmackDown airs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.
The Colons will remain offscreen and out of the SmackDown tag team picture.
After his tag team partner Primo healed up, Epico had a shoulder injury to deal with. He noted on Twitter he underwent surgery:
Surgery done!!!! Thank you to my lovely wife, mom and son for being there for me!!! And Dr Dugas for an awesome job!! Now time to rehab and get better! https://t.co/80xO8QrKdv2018-1-31 14:54:55
The blue brand, though, could have some new faces in the near future.
Rey Mysterio, for one, is apparently in talks with WWE about a return to the company. In a recent interview with Neil Docking of the Mirror, he said: "I want to say that there is a big possibility that I will be back. [We're] figuring out what the situation is, you know from both ends."
Former ECW world champ Bobby Lashley may be on his way back, too, after a long stay with Impact Wrestling. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), the expectation is his WWE return could happen at any time.
Every week has seen another dominant performance from The Bludgeon Brothers.
Luke Harper and Erick Rowan smashed two local talents in the mat last week. The quick win pushed their record to 7-0-1 since their gimmick shift, per CageMatch.net.
Add the fact they crossed paths with The Usos and stared down the champs, and it feels inevitable The Bludgeon Brothers will be chasing tag team gold soon.
Tye Dillinger's own title hopes aren't as bright. The Perfect 10 has slid into more of a midcard-fodder role.
He fell to Baron Corbin last Tuesday, his third straight loss, per CageMatch.net.
General manager Daniel Bryan will reveal the first SmackDown Top 10 list. He announced the new ranking system last week, explaining that Superstars will vote on each other to decide who fits where.
Fans will get their first look at how this narrative device changes the show. It should create new reasons for rivals to dislike each other and add clearer stakes to matches.
Charlotte Flair, who will likely rank high on the list, will face Liv Morgan on Tuesday night.
Last week, The Queen fell victim to a three-on-one attack. The Riott Squad left her lying and face down on the canvas. While Flair was vulnerable, Carmella nearly cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase.
Flair will seek some payback against Morgan, a bout that will be a huge opportunity for the rookie from The Riott Squad.
Tuesday night will also deliver a United States Championship match. Rusev earned a crack at Bobby Roode by winning a Fatal 4-Way match last week.
Rusev has garnered some of the biggest reactions on SmackDown of late. Audiences have openly rooted for him despite his heel status. Perhaps this title clash is the start of WWE embracing that and giving The Lion of Bulgaria a major push.
SmackDown's main event will again feature Owens and Zayn but not as a unified front this time.

The conflict CONTINUES between @FightOwensFight and @SamiZayn... Has a wedge been driven between them ahead of their match NEXT WEEK to determine @AJStylesOrg's #WWEFastlane opponent?! #SDLive https://t.co/4peDx7CPnL2018-1-31 02:57:03
Rather than band together and pester the rest of the roster, KO and Zayn will face each other. Will this splinter their alliance beyond repair? Will one of them turn on the other in pursuit of Styles and the WWE Championship?
Those are the kinds of questions set to swirl around the action as two allies collide.
And one has to wonder how Bryan and commissioner Shane McMahon will fit into all of this. We've seen the authority figures bicker with each other and Owens and Zayn for weeks upon weeks. The end to this story's path remains a foggy one.
