New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis said Saturday his season-ending ACL injury is healing quickly.

According to Al Iannazzone of Newsday, Porzingis said, "I expect myself to heal like a lizard."

The 22-year-old Latvian missed more than two months to close the 2017-18 season after suffering a torn ACL against the Milwaukee Bucks in February.

Though he was limited to just 48 games this season, Porzingis was named an All-Star for the first time and finished with averages of 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Porzingis has one year remaining on his contract before he can become a restricted free agent.

Next season, he will have his fourth different head coach since he entered the league in 2015. After both Derek Fisher and Kurt Rambis struggled in that role during Porzingis' rookie season, Jeff Hornacek went just 60-104 in two campaigns.

With Hornacek out of the picture, New York is in search of another head coach.

The new hire will likely have a significant impact on whether the Knicks can return to the playoffs for the first time since 2012-13, but the biggest key will be how quickly Porzingis can heal and return to his high level of play.
