Aaahhh! Today is a wonderful day in the world of sports. Do you know why? Today marks the day the Chicago Bears no longer have to put up with Cedric Benson. I put this right up there with my birthday.
Monday afternoon, the Bears put Cedric "Boo-Boo" Benson on waivers. The team was forced to do away with their starting running-back after a tumultuous off-season. With two DUI arrests in '08 alone, Benson may have finally found something he's good at. Maybe Benson was drunk on the field for all those games. Who knows, Benson may have done better if he was playing drunk.

I give the Bears some credit for the release of Benson. They really don't have another back able to step in right away and contribute. With the release, they won't turn into the Cincinnati Bengals or something.
To be honest, I might be a little hard on Ced, but when you're picked as high as he was in the draft (4th in '05), you have to contribute.
Now, I'm waiting to see if any other team is brave enough to take a chance on Benson. If there is one potential suitor out there, I feel sorry for you.

Don't give the Bears too much credit, they let this happen with their failure to realize a mistake when it was so clear....
