As the regular season came to an end Saturday, Penn State fans now must prepare themselves for a very boring month they have ahead of them.  The regular season is over for Penn State, However it is not over for the rest of college football teams, as other conferences still have games scheduled for the next two weeks.

The Big Ten has always ended their season a couple weeks early, and it has been said that this has hurt their overall performance in bowl games.  It also ends earlier because some of the other major conferences have Championship games, while the Big Ten doesn’t.
The Nittany Lions won in very convincing fashion this Saturday against the Michigan State Spartans.  This game is always played on the last week of the season, and it is the battle for the Land Grant Trophy.  Tied 7-7 at halftime, it seem Penn State was in a fight to the finish.

However, with a 28-point explosion in the third quarter, Penn State took control and won 42-14. Senior quarterback Daryll Clark led the way as he threw four touchdowns in his final regular season game as a collegiate athlete.

At this point, there’s nothing Penn State fans can do but wait.  They will not be certain on what bowl game they will be playing in until December 6, as that is the BCS Selection Sunday.  Penn State fans still have a BCS bowl on their mind, for very good reason.  Penn State is currently ranked 13th overall in the BCS rankings, which makes them eligible to be chosen as an at-large bid.

Penn Staters are hoping and thinking Orange Bowl, as this was obvious when they showed the Nittany Lion holding an orange at the end of Saturday’s game.  The Orange Bowl committee has said they plan on choosing the Nittany Lions, but it is completely in their hands now.

At the beginning of every season, every fan, player and coach had the thoughts of a big bowl game, and this season was no different.  Even though we are in the position to make an impressive game, some people might call this season a disappointment due to the two loses at home to Iowa and Ohio State.

In my mind any time we win ten games in a season, can you really complain? Sure we didn’t win the Big Ten title and we’re not going to end up in the BCS championship game like we would have hoped, but we’re still going to be in a respectable bowl game and we’re still in a position were if we win we should finish within the top 10.

Penn State will find themselves in either the Orange Bowl or the Capital One Bowl. If they make the Orange Bowl they will play the winner of the ACC championship game which is between Clemson and Georgia Tech.  If we make the Capital One Bowl, it will be against a SEC team, most likely Mississippi.

Now, as most fans hope for the Orange Bowl, either one of these games will be a nice accomplishment.  We have a lot to be proud of this season!
