Flyers Claim Goalie Michael Leighton

Sports WriterCorrespondent IDecember 15, 2009

According to ESPN and the Flyers website, Philadelphia has claimed goalie Michael Leighton who was put on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Leighton has appeared in seven games this season, putting up a 1-4-0 record with a 4.28 goals against average.

This is Leightons second go with the Flyers.

He appeared with the team during the 2006-2007 season, in which he went 2-2-0 with a 3.69 goals against average.

In his sixth seasons with the NHL, Leighton is 18-35-12.

This should help the Flyers, who needed a backup goalie due to the injury to starter Ray Emery.
