UCF linebackers and recruiting coordinator Geoff Collins is leaving the Knights' organization and is headed to FIU to become the school's new defensive coordinator, UCFSports.com is reporting.

Collins spent the last two seasons at UCF, having previously worked alongside George O'Leary at Georgia Tech. Collins was also previously the defensive coordinator at Western Carolina, and prior to coming to Orlando, had been the Director of Player Personnel at Alabama.

Collins is regarded as a fantastic recruiter, and was responsible for new UCF recruits Blake Bortles, Cornelius Whitehead, Justin Tukes, Glenn Stanley, and Tommy Sanders, among others, rounding out the black and gold's Class of 2010.

FIU and UCF will begin a four-game series in 2011.
