If Tony Stewart and Haas CNC Racing come together to own the team in 2009, I have some ideas for Stewart's car.
I think Stewart should be allowed to take the No. 20 and Home Depot with him over to Haas since he is well known with that paint job.
If Gibbs brings in Logano to take Tony's spot, I think his number should be 80 because that is the number that Gibbs uses for their developmental drivers.
If Stewart is not able to bring over the No. 20 or Home Depot, I have a few suggestions for him to use for a number and sponsor:
Ideas for sponsors:
Sirius Satellite Radio: Sirius should be his sponsor because he has a show on Sirius NASCAR Radio (Channel 128) each week.
- B/R Ticket Guide
Bass Pro Shops: If Stewart makes the move, then expect Bass to his sponsor.
Old Spice: Stewart has them as a sponsor when he races in the Nationwide series and Trucks.
Ideas for number:
66 & 70: Current numbers of Haas CNC Racing.
33: The number that Stewart uses for his Nationwide series and Trucks rides. The number is owned by Childress. If Stewart can get this number, Childress could always use 30 (number used before the 07 came about).
80: If Stewart can't have the 20, then it would be great for him to take the Gibbs developmental number with him.
02: Reverse of 20.
05: The last time that Stewart won the Cup.
50: Reverse of 05.
25: The two years that he won the championship (2002, 2005).
52: Reverse of 25.
0, 30 & 90: Numbers that end in 0.

How about Kleenex for a sponsor, for all the crying Tony does? Maybe Huggies? (Ohhhhh! Yes, I went there.)
I wouldn't look for the 20 or Homey De-pot to go with Tony. Gibbs has a VERY talented young man in Logano coming in, and he will sell Home Depot. They've been waiting for Stewart to screw up over the years, and find a way to get him out of their car. Here's their chance. Which is unfortunate because I have come to enjoy the commercials (Bright Orange? It says "Look at me... I'm fast!" - How about a faux finish? and the decked-out porta-potty are just great stuff.)
Bass Pro Shops is a good bet, maybe with Old Spice as a secondary. BPS is a good fit in NASCAR's demographic, and thus is a good return on investment. Sirius is a good call as well, though I have to wonder if they have the money to afford it, being they're trying to merge with their competition.
33 and 30 are owned by Childress, and I wouldn't expect him to part with them, but he does have one to give.
And I think the 25 is still in the Hendrick stable, and has been for years.

The latest scoop, per ESPN, is that Stewart is talking to Office Depot and Old Spice to sponsor his car, while Ryan Newman is considering going to the second car. (Just like I said before. :) )
Chances are they'll keep the numbers they have. They're decent numbers that other teams would appreciate having, and they both have some history with the team.
For the record, the following numbers are unassigned for 2009 as of now:
0,3,4,13,14,25,30,32,35,36,46,51,52,53,54,56,57,59,61,62,63,64,65,67,68,69,75,76,79,81,82,85,86,89,90,91,92,93,94,95,97,98,02,03,04,05,06
Theoretically, if Stewart wanted to make the team over, he'd choose two completely new numbers that relate to one another, like 4 and 14, 35 and 36, 61 and 62, 91 and 92, etc. Taking low numbers like 4 and 14 would probably be a savvy PR move to assert the team's intention on being competitive immediately.
There's also the possibility that he'd want to pair the 66 with the 36, 46, or 61. Likewise, the 70 would work well with 75.

If Haas/CNC is a minority or 50% owner with Stewart. He doesn't need to worry about a sponsor, Mr. Haas has more money than Mr. Hendrick and just add Stewart to the current Haas/CNC logo on the hood.

I'd hope that the trouble that seems to follow Haas/CNC doesn't end up in the laps of Tony and Ryan if they go this route. Trouble with NASCAR penalties, trouble with the IRS. Maybe Tony would clean up the Haas act, one would hope. As a fellow Hoosier with Tony and Ryan, I'd like to see them on the same team, especially in Chevys. If Tony did this, it would allow him to make it back to the Indy 500, which he has made very clear he would still like to win someday.

I think it's either RCR or HMS for Smoke and what he doesn't take Truex will.
