What Does Mark McGwire Want?

WASHINGTON - MARCH 17: Former St. Louis Cardinal Mark McGwire (L) talks with Rafael Palmeiro of the Baltimore Orioles during a House Committe session investigating Major League Baseball's effort to eradicate steroid use on Capital Hill March 17, 2005 in Washington, DC. McGwire and Palmeiro were named in the Mitchell Report that was released December 13, 2007 by a committee looking into use of performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball and headed by former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell.  Its not like anyone is suprised about this. The Question is why now? Its been five years since he testified in front of Congress. "I'm not here to talk about the past" and what not.

Just another case of a baby wanting his bottle. He sat down with Bob Costas on the MLB Network and apologized. No not ESPN but the MLB Network. Obviously they won't criticize him as much considering all they want to focus on is the way he played the game.

If he wanted to be sincere he would have apologized years ago through his own words and not months of teaching from all his "advisors".

Still he never actually admitted using steroids. He went around that by saying it did not help improve his stat.

In the midst of all this "Steroid god" Jose Canseco has something to say and like always no one is going to listen to him.

"I've got no problems with a few of the things he's saying, but again, it's ironic and strange that Mark McGwire denies that I injected him with steroids. He's calling me a liar again. I've defended Mark, I've said a lot of good things about him, but I can't believe he just called me a liar."

I don't understand why Canseco would even come out and say that. Like it would improve his image. I guess he likes to embrace his past steroid use. Now for a new reality TV show. True or False with your host Jose Conseco

"So I want to challenge him on national TV to a polygraph examination. I want to see him call me a liar under a polygraph examination."

Well Canseco has also said that he wants so file a lawsuit against the MLBPA for blah, blah, blah, blah. Ok enough with him.

So McGwire came out about steroid use when nobody really cared and all the heat was off him. This doesn't make him look better. He was probably told by Tony Larussa that he had to come clean before he becomes the hitting coach for the Cards.

Well now McGwire has had an extra 15 minutes of fame and a lifetime of shame.
