The Philadelphia Flyers' organization announced today that forward Jeff Carter has been signed to a contract extension. Details were not released, as per club policy, but the rumor is that the deal is worth $15 million over three years.
This is a great move for the Flyers, as they needed to keep both Carter and Richards, and they had already signed Richards to a massive contract extension.

"Jeff is a terrific young player who has come up through our organization, and we believe he is only going to get better, " Holmgren said. "It is a priority for us to keep our young core players intact, and signing Jeff allows us to do that."
"I'm very excited to be staying in Philadelphia," Carter announced. "We have a great group of guys on this team and I can't wait to get back on the ice and continue where we left off last season."
Carter had 29 goals and 24 assists for 53 points this season, and performed very well through the playoffs as well. This is a great move that was much needed for the Flyers. This is the first big step towards returning to the Conference Finals next year.
