Why Randy Orton Gets Cheered and John Cena Gets Booed

WWE is known for two types of people. The good guys and the bad guys. For real wrestling fans their also known as faces and heels. Faces are the heroes of the company and their loved by fans all over the world. Heels are known as the people who are hated by everybody due to the actions they committed in the past, but not necessarily.

John Cena is a man who's supposed to be WWE's version of a superhero but yet sometimes he get's booed out of the building. Randy Orton is a villain because of his "viper" character. Randy's done the worst things in his career even handcuffed Triple H to the ropes and performed a DDT on his wife, Stephanie Mcmahon. Despite all of the horrible things Orton's done, he still gets somewhat of a huge pop by certain fans.

Now we all ask ourselves, why do some people do that? First off I just want to point out that it's mostly male fans who cheer for villains and boo some fan favourites. The reason that male fans do this is because they think of people like Randy Orton as the cool anti-hero that they can look up to,  they also think of John Cena as that boring old fan-favourite who follows the rules and is loved by kids all over the world.

That exactly is the reason people like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Eddie Guerrero got cheered. All three of those men never follow the rules. Eddie's motto was "I lie, I cheat, I steal." for god sakes. Another reason John Cena guys like John Cena get booed is because of respect. Fans just don't respect John Cena like they do with Triple H and Shawn Michaels because he isn't a good wrestler and isn't "deserving" of his spot.

Batista is definitely one of those fan favourites that was disliked by fans. The reason for this is because WWE turned an animal friendly. Who would like a friendly animal? As soon as Batista turned heel at Bragging Rights half of those people started liking Batista. The other half still thought he sucked but that's besides the point.

Do you want to know why fans started liking Batista? WWE turned Batista into a real animal. After his heel turn he's been hellbent on one thing, "his" World Heavyweight Championship. The man actually beat The Undertaker down with steel chairs during the deadman's entrance. The same way Batista turned heel, John Cena should turn heel too.

Guys like The Undertaker, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels wouldn't be successful because they're superstars who won't be hated by the WWE universe no matter what they do. Guys like Randy Orton, Batista, and John Cena are newcomers despite being in the company for 8 years and the only way fans would love them is if they were heels which is why Randy Orton gets cheered and is actually loved and why John Cena gets booed.

A perfect example of a typical fan favourite was Rocky Maivia a.k.a The Rock. The Rock came into WWE as a typical hero and was disliked by almost every wrestling fan. Fans used to hold up signs that said "Die Rocky, Die". Then The Rock turned heel and voila his haters soon became lovers, (haha, not like that).

The key to success in WWE is having a heel run once in their career. Ric Flair, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin have all been there and done that. If WWE wants to make sure John Cena doesn't get booed out of his own hall of fame ceremony is to turn him heel and a perfect heel too.

I'm not saying John Cena gets booed all of the time or Randy Orton gets cheered all of the time either, both of these men get mixed reactions but real wrestling fans end up cheering Randy Orton instead of John Cena. Nor am I saying all fan-favourites get booed, guys like Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy get cheered by real wrestling fans despite being just like John Cena.

Wait, one more thing I want to talk about is The Undertaker. Last night The Undertaker perhaps did one of the most heel like things ever, he choke slammed Rey Mysterio and Shawn Michaels after both men had a phenomenal match and were attacked by Batista. Isn't that a dirty thing to do? But like I mentioned before some people get cheered despite what they do.

Anyways just some of my thoughts on why the crowds cheer Orton and boo John Cena, until next time...
