University of Central Florida: Five 2010 Recruit Bios

Last week, George O'Leary and Team UCF officially added 23 recruits to a roster that went 8-5 last season and made a bowl appearance.

Here are some spotlights on five of the new recruits, with more to come next week:


Jordan Akins, WR, 6'4", 202 lbs., Union Grove High School (Georgia)

Akins was an all-state selection as a senior. He attended Strong Rock Christian as a junior and passed for 823 yards and 12 touchdowns while also rushing for 784 yards and 14 touchdowns, earning all-state honors in the process.

Additionally, Akins was named all-conference as a sophomore and was considered a pro baseball prospect as a center fielder. Akins was also recruited by Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, and Tennessee.


Blake Bortles, QB, 6'4", 222 lbs., Oviedo High School (Florida)

Bortles set the Seminole County record in his career with 5,576 passing yards and 53 touchdowns. He ranked eighth in the Orlando Sentinel Central Florida Top 100 as a senior and was a third-team all-state pick in 2008.

During his senior year, Bortles helped his team to a 9-2 record. Twice named all-county, Bortles was also the MVP of the Central Florida All-Star Game and was recruited by Purdue, Colorado State, Kentucky, Tulane, and Western Kentucky.


Quenton Brown, DE, 6'3", 215 lbs., Tucker High School (Georgia)

Quenton Brown made 68 tackles, 10 sacks, and blocked five kicks his senior year. He recorded 67 tackles as a junior, including nine sacks and eight tackles for loss, showing his consistency.

Brown played in the North-South All Star Game and is a member of the National Honor Society. Brown also works as a tight end, catching 30 passes for 400 yards and four touchdowns as a junior. He was also recruited by Miami, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Marshall, and West Virginia.

Woodley Cadet, DB, 6'2", 206 lbs., Seminole Ridge High (Florida)

Cadet made 45 tackles (37 solo) as a senior with an interception and four deflected passes. He was named first-team all-district, all-conference, and all-area by both the Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel, and made 32 tackles as a junior, 24 of them solos, with four interceptions to earn all-conference honors.

Additionally, Cadet was named to Bill Buchalter's Florida Top 100 list and was also recruited by Illinois, Indiana, Wake Forest, and FAU.


Davious Chestnut, DB, 6'1", 185 lbs., Carver's Bay High (South Carolina)

Chestnut helped his team to the Lower State Championship in 2007 and 2008 and a 33-4 overall record from 2007-09, and was twice named to the South Carolina all-state team.

Additionally, he was named all-region in 2009 at both defensive back and running back. He played in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, and on defense he led the team with three interceptions and had 48 tackles on the year.

As a senior, he rushed for 1,078 yards with 18 touchdowns while making 68 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
