World Football, EPL, Liverpool

Gareth Barry has made no secret that he wants to play Champions League football. He has been clear with his Aston Villa manager that he simply wants to leave.

Liverpool has made an offer or few, but none have reached Villa's 18 million pound price tag. Liverpool's best offer is reportedly around 15m.

I would venture to say that Liverpool would be his best suitor. He and Steven Gerrard had wonderful chemistry for England during their failed Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. He[Barry] is a solid overall player and I believe the eventually Villa and Liverpool will come to a transfer agreement relatively soon.

Barry has critisized Villa manager Martin Oneill's handling of the situation, and the club has fined him 80,000 pounds and barred him from pre-season training.

If Liverpool does land him and Cristiano Ronaldo goes to Real Madrid as he's indicated he will, Liverpool would have a very real chance of winning the Premier this season.
