An Icon's Return: TNA IMPACT! Slamback

Ron JohnsonJul 4, 2008

Last night's IMPACT! saw the line in the sand crossed, the knockouts making a statement, teacher and student not seeing eye to eye and an unprecedented return to the ring. This plus yours truly being seen on last night's IMPACT! Fan's Revenge contest adds up to a pretty exciting broadcast.

Here is how the party began. AJ Styles comes down to the ring along with Karen Angle to finish this war between him and her husband Kurt. Styles officially declares war on Kurt and calls him out to the ring only to get Team 3D instead. After a series of Italian insults towards Karen, AJ snaps and takes both men down. But the numbers game catches up with him and he becomes a victim of a Reverse 3D.

Schefter: AD Return 'More Likely Than Not'

As the duo sets up a table, Rhyno makes his return to the IMPACT! Zone to stave off the assault and also issues a challenge for Victory Road. If the fans didn't have enough reason to go to TNAWrestling.com before, they got one now: The fans will decide what kind of match it will be between Team Angle and Team Styles! It will either be a tables match, falls count anywhere or Full Metal Mayhem.

Speaking of Angle, he's out with his first of three blind dates: A pig tailed larger woman named Tiffany at the rock wall of a gym. Back in the IMPACT! Zone, LAX is on the screen waiting for the team now known as Beer Money in Houston.

Opening Bout: MC Machine Guns defeat Beer Money

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have control over Beer Money try to figure out the X Division tag team. But after a few cheap shots, BMI takes control. Sabin does manage to tag in Shelley to take control of the match. Thanks to an inadvertant abuse of alcohol, Shelley rolls up Storm to pick up the win.

After the match, however, Beer Money assaults the tag team with the leather straps. Then they start whipping everybody else until Jim Cornette comes out and tells the two rebels that they will fight the two meanest, surliest, most disgruntled SOBs on the TNA Roster.

Breaking News: Tune into TNAWrestling.com all this week to find out the lucky winner of the Fan's Revenge Package to Victory Road!

Back on IMPACT!, Kurt Angle meets his second blind date: A Cross-Dresser named "Melissa!"

Second Bout: Moose defeats Roxxi (Knockouts Bimbo Brawl)

Moose pounces right on Roxxi with a hockey stick on the outside. Outside, Roxxi recovers and whips Moose into the shopping cart. But Moose recovers again and cymbals Roxxi with a pair of pans. Back in the ring, Roxxi tries to get the victory, but gets caught in the Bimbo Drop as Moose picks up the win.

In the back, Cornette is speaking to his first participant of tonight's TNA Revenge Match against Beer Money. So as Nash accepts the invitation, he asks who his partner will be. The answer: Samoa Joe. Nash wishes Cornette good luck in telling Joe that.

After the break, Cornette informs Joe that he will be in the main event against Beer Money, but forgets to tell him who his partner is. After some heated words between TNA Management and the TNA World Champion, Joe makes it clear to him that anything that happens tonight will be on Management's Head.

Back on IMPACT!, Angle is on his third and final date with a woman who looks normal with the exception of her constant departures from the table. The reason: She has a spastic colon, which Angle wastes no time in mocking & insulting.

Third Bout: Rey Bucanero defeats Alex Koslov (World X Cup Match)

The match begins with some luchadore style counters from both men. After using a double shot of high flying moves, Koslov takes control of the match. But his posing and thirst for acceptance becomes his downfall as he gets dropped in a Border Bomb.

After the Border Bomb, Bucanero comes off the top with flying Flipping Senton to pick up the win and give Team Mexico the lead in the World X Cup.

In the back, Kurt Angle has arrived to the arena and is ticked about his bad dates as he enters the IMPACT! Zone to confront Brother Ray. As Ray tries to explain his actions, he not only puts the blame on Devon but also brings out a solution to the problem: A smokin' hot blonde named Sandy. But to show his appreciation, Angle instead brings The Beautiful People down to bag the blonde.

Everything was going well until Karen Angle comes down to stop the assault...only this time, she doesn't come unprepared. As soon as the Team Angle closes in on Karen, AJ Styles and Rhyno come down to save the day followed by Gail Kim and ODB. As Angle bolts out of the ring, his wife is on the other side and the heroes in the ring.

Fourth Bout: Milano defeats Curry Man (World X Cup)

Curry Man has control until a dizzy ground hurricane gives the rep from Team Japan control. But Milano's ego gets in the way of a possible victory, and Curry takes advantage. Milano nails a superkick but Curry kicks out.

After a cheap tactic (low blow), Milano picks up Team Japan's first victory in the World X Cup.

Fifth Bout: Taylor defeats Raisha Saeed

The match begins with a slugfest between the two knockouts, but Saeed gets caught with a few armdrags. On the outside though, Awesome Kong makes her presence felt with a clothesline to her adversary. Raisha takes control until she botches a moonsault to give Taylor the advantage.

Taylor regains momentum, and after taking out Kong, she nails the German Suplex to pick up the win as well as the shot at the TNA Knockouts Championship next week against Kong.

In the back, Joe and Nash are heading to the ring for the main event.

Main Event: Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash defeat Beer Money

Nash and Robert Roode start off with a series of cheap shots until Big Sexy dishes back with a Sidewalk Slam. While Nash lays some knees and elbows in the corner, Joe pops in off the blind tag and follows up with a series of kicks and high knees as Booker T looks on in the Championship Room.

Back on IMPACT!, Beer Money has control over Samoa Joe until a powerslam leaves Storm and Joe flat on the mat. Instead of tagging in Nash, Joe gives a 7-Up Yours Salute to Nash and goes back to finish the job. Roode and Storm double team Joe until Big Sexy comes in and clears the ring. While Nash and Storm battle outside the ring, Joe takes care of the business on the inside.

After getting the win with a Muscle Buster, Joe and Nash are picking up where they left off. As the two prepare to get physical, the music of The Icon hits and the lights go out. Everyone is looking around trying to find him until a camera catches Sting looking down at the two former friends in the ring as IMPACT! goes off the air.
