World Number 2 Dinara Safina will be desperately trying to win her maiden Grand Slam title in 2010, and end what has been an agonising wait for her and her fans. Safina the younger sister of former men’s world number 1 and 2 time Grand Slam Champion Marat Safin, took the tennis world by storm in 2008 when she reached the 1st Grand Slam final of her career. Safina however came up a bit short in her 1st final to the tournament favourite Ana Ivanovic of Serbia. Dinara Safina then began 2009 in superb fashion reaching the final of the Australian Open but losing out in straight sets to Serena Williams in the championship match. On the back of her run to the final in Melbourne Safina became number 1 in the world for the 1st time in her career, and she reached yet another Grand Slam final in Paris this time falling short against compatriot Svetlana Kuzetsova. Safina will be hoping that she can finally break her Grand Slam duck this season.
