The voluntary workouts started yesterday and there was no sign of JaMarcus. There was however, both Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye.

Both to have signed there tenders and are eager to get to work and improve there game.

Bruce has been there already working out with some of the receiver's and strengthening the knees that where both injured in the game against the Washington Redskins.

In a recent interview Cable stated that “JaMarcus is working and doing things he should be doing right now. And he’ll get himself prepared to compete for the job; that’s the only way to look at it,” the Raiders head coach said.

Cable continued on to suggest that right now JaMarcus Russell is the only person who should be concerned about JaMarcus Russell, “It’s really not about him giving assurances. It’s simply; he has a job to do like everybody else. Do your job and do it in a matter helps this team succeed. We have talked a couple of times. I know he’s working and I’m anxious for the off season program to get started so we can see him all the time.”

After Cable annoucing at the combine a couple of weeks ago that "The QB position is an open competition",I was leary if JaMarcus would do the work, but today,I did read that JaMarcus has been working out in Arizona getting himself in "football shape".Willie Brown who is charge of squad development insist that Russell has been on a diet and has been working hard all along. He not only has lost weight,he is getting stronger.

This is great is great news to all the Raider faithful who has had there doubts. It is also great news to those who never lost faith in JaMarcus.

It doesn't however, make him a "shoe in" just yet. There is still much work that has to be done and Bruce and Charlie will continue to compete for that starting spot.

This makes for a great off season and like I've said in many of my comments,"There is no off season for pros".

In order to be a playoff contender, all you have to do is look around the league and you will see other teams, other pros already at it.They are the ones who will be back in the playoffs, because of there preparation.

Good news is that our Raiders are now doing the same.

JaMarcus needs to get as much work with the receivers as possible,he needs to work on his "touch",his pocket awareness, his accuracy, and work on his footwork(both throwing and running).

Improving these things will also improve his confindence in time. After getting booed when he came in and cheered when he went out,he is in need of it.

His working in Phoenix and getting himself in shape,is a start.

Many in the Raider Nation want him to be the franchise Quarterback we all envisioned him to be and the JaMarcus Watch starts now!

If you have any links to JaMarcus putting in that "extra" time and or working out, let's have it and post it in the comment section!

Let's Go JaMarcus and the Raider Nation is pulling for you!
