LOS ANGELES - DECEMBER 17: Head coach Jeff Van Gundy of the Houston Rockets argues a call during the second half of the game against the Los Angeles Clippers on December 17, 2005 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. In a season that has seen are fair share of ups and downs, and highs and lows, Tracy and no Tracy. It seems apparent we are headed for the lottery, which even the most die hard Rocket fan thought we would end up before the season. In my opinion after the season, Rockets brass needs to look back at this season much like University of Houston Athletic Director Mack Rhoades. Even though Cougars Coach Tom Penders stepped down on his own I still think we can all understand what happened.  Mack Rhoades was not impressed with average basketball and even with Postseason ball this year, so he (might have) helped convince Tom to step down. Sure this is the only year since Rick Adelman has taken over that we will not make the playoffs. Is that really ok? No, defense has really been lagging every year since Jeff Van Gundy, this team would be amazing with the solid JVG Defense.  So what if we win games 92 to 89 it is sure better then giving up 60% plus percent shooting lately. Is it really ok to say that when Yao gets back, the defense will be better? No, even though it will improve with that 7’6 man in the middle, you can’t count on him a whole year or a whole game. You have to bring Jeff Van Gundy back to Houston to bring back winning Basketball!
