There has been a lot of talk about who will win the Stanley cup this year. Can the Blackhawks and Capitals overcome bad goaltending? Can San Jose break there playoff slump? Now i'll break all that down.
San Jose 1.Marleau-Thornton-Heatley 2.Clowe-Pavelski-Setoguchi 3.Malhotra-Nichol-Mitchell 4.Coutoure-Ortmeyer-Staubitz 1.Blake-Vlasic 2.Boyle-Murray 3.Wallin-Huskins 1.Nabokov-Greiss
San Jose has another good team this year, possibly there best but then again that's what we thought last year when they got sweeped in the first round by No.8 seed Anahiem. Though I think they are better this season I don't think it's there year. I predict a second round exit.
Chicago 1.Sharp-Toews-Kane 2.Brouwer-Bolland-Hossa 3.Ladd-Madden-Byfuglien 4.Eager-Versteeg-Burish 1.Keith-Seabrook 2.Hjalmarsson-Johnsson 3.Hendry-Sopel 1.Huet-Niemi
Chicago is one force to be reckoned with. Even with some questions in net they're still a great team. Yet there is something about them that just makes me doubt them. Maybe it's the way they trade chances so much, or there relative youth. Either way i'm predicting they lose a hard fought conference finals.
Washington 1.Ovechkin-Backstrom-Knuble 2.Laich-Morrison-Semin 3.Fleischmann-Belanger-Chimera 4.Fehr-Steckel-Walker 1.Green-Poti 2.Corvo-Morrisonn 3.Schultz-Erskine 1.Theodore-Varmalov
The Capitals are one of those teams who the majority of people pick to win. That reason is that they are flashy a la the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980's. Though there are 2 differences between them. Edmonton had one the best offences ever and they had a good goalie. That's why i'm picking them to lose in the conference finals.
Pittsburgh 1.Ponikoravsky-Crosby-Guerin 2.Kunitz-Malkin-Fedotenko 3.Dupuis-Staal-Talbot 4.Kennedy-Cooke-Rupp 1.Gonchar-Orpik 2.Leopold-Letang 3.Goligoski-McKee 1.Fluery-Johnson
The defending stanley cup champions have it all. Stars, offensive depth, good defence and a solid goalie. However I think they will be the unlucky team that gets upset by an upstart. So i'm predicting an early second round exit.
Buffalo 1.Vanek-Roy-Pominville 2.Gaustad-Connolly-Hecht 3.Stafford-Torres-Grier 4.Kennedy-Mair-Kaleta 1.Rivet-Lydman 2.Myers-Tallinder 3.Sekera-Montador 1.Miller-Lalime
Now here's a selection that may surprise some people but I really think they're a darkhorse. I'm picking them to upset the top seeds (Washington and Pittsburgh) and go all the way to the Stanley cup finals. Though i'm predicting them to lose to their expansion cousins........... The Vancouver Canucks.
Vancouver 1.D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Burrows 2.Demitra-Kesler-Samuelsson 3.Raymond-Wellwood-Grabner 4.Rypien-Johnson-Hansen 1.Salo-Edler 2.Ehrhoff-O'Brien 3.Bieksa-Rome 1.Luongo-Raycroft
This may just be the best team the canucks have ever had. They have a great offence, a good defence which is going to get even better when Willie Mitchell returns and a great goalie. Yeah, I said it the Canucks have a great goalie, it seems like a crime to say it now but there is a logical explanation. He's going through what everybody goes through a slump, and by playoff time I think he'll be right back to his old self.
