FC Gold Pride Open New Stadium With A Win Over Boston

FC Gold Pride hosted the Boston Breakers at the newly renovated Pioneer Stadium in Cal State East Bay in Hayward, CA. Kelley O'Hara scored the lone goal in the 38th minute to give FC Gold Pride their first win at their new stadium, and Boston their fourth loss this season.

The goal came after rookie Ali Riley stalled the ball in the midfield. Kelley O'Hara received the ball from Riley, worked a give-and-go with Christine Sinclair, and slotted the ball past Breakers goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher on just her second game this season.

The Breakers had an early chance when Kristine Lilly's left-footed free kick bounced off the wall and shot the rebound with her right foot straight to the crossbar.

In the 68th minute, the Breakers almost tied the game when Fabiana got a shot off that was saved by Nicole Barnhart, and the rebound header hit the crossbar.

The game ended in a 1-0 win for the Pride, who stand comfortably in first place in the standings with 22 points and a 7-2-1 record.

Next week, Sky Blue FC will be on the road taking on FC Gold Pride in Hayward at 3 pm PT on Fox Soccer Channel.
