Washington Free Agency Update

brandon LamCorrespondent IJuly 2, 2010

With the start of NBA free agency beginning today, the Washington Wizards have been interested in several free agents, including Atlanta hawks restricted free agent Josh Childress.Childress has been playing in Greece the last two seasons for the Olympiacos, after he signed a three-year $20 million deal back in 2008.However Childress has until July 15, if he decides to opt out his contract and make a return to the NBA.

Washington has been very interested in Childress for quite some time. In 2005 Washington maybe would have drafted Childress, if they did not trade the pick to Dallas for Antawn Jamison.

He averaged 15.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 20 EuroLeague games last season. He would provide Washington with a versatile swingman and more depth at small forward.

Washington is also interested in free agents Travis Outlaw, Ryan Gomes, Rasual Butler.
