Dallas Mavericks Are Contenders Again: Do We Care?

The Mavericks have made the playoffs every year since 2001, and they are contenders once again. They are one of the only Western contenders that have kept their stars, along with the Spurs and Lakers. But do we care that they are contenders?

They have Jason Kidd, who doesn't do anything special anymore, and Shawn Marion, who hasn't had a good year since 2007. I don't think Shawn Marion even knows what he is good at anymore. They have Jason Terry, who is an explosive bench player, and another positive is that they have the league's best power forward in Dirk Nowitzki.

The reason why we don't care that they are contenders is because history has shown Dirk Nowitzki can't win without a true star. The Mavericks are a long way of beating the Lakers. They have no confidence after losing to the Spurs in the first round last year. The Mavericks are a great regular season team, but they are unpredictable in the playoffs, due to their team chemistry.

I think the Mavericks will have another good regular season, but won't be a threat during the playoffs because of their self-belief and team chemistry.
