The USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll just came out, and to no ones surprise the defending national champions are atop the poll. Now with that said, I just recently purchased NCAA Football 11 for my XBox 360. I thought it would be a novel idea to have a 25-team tournament to determine a “preseason national champion”.
Now thanks to a fantastic website in challonge.com, which helped me create this complicated bracket. Over the next few Sunday and Wednesdays I’ll recap the simulated games on my XBox 360, with the championship game to be on September 1, the day before the season officially starts.
Here is the link to the bracket which I’ll update after each game concludes:
Now all top seeds will be the home team exception being the title game which will be played in Glendale, AZ. Top 7 seeds received byes, and a coin flip was used to determine who was #24 and #25 due to both West Virginia and Utah being tied in the poll for the 24th spot.
With that said here is the preliminary round schedule:
August 8th: #17 Georgia Tech at #16 LSU
#21 Georgia at #12 Wisconsin
#18 North Carolina at #15 Pittsburgh
#19 Arkansas at #14 Penn State
August 11th: #25 Utah at #8 Oklahoma
#24 West Virginia at #9 Nebraska
#23 Auburn at #10 Iowa
#22 Oregon St. at #11 Oregon (coincidence Duck and Beaver fans)
#20 Florida St. at #13 Miami (FL) (again coincidence Seminole and ‘Cane fans)
There you have it check back later today for results of the first games. I'll provide live updates at the comment section.
