Talk about a comedy of errors.
I watched tonight as the Chicago Bears offense squandered yet another game—with stupid penalties, dropped passes, and inexcusable turnovers.
One second-half drive that should have ended in a touchdown netted only a field goal because of four false-start penalties and two delay-of-game calls.
The quarterback?
Brian Griese.
Sure, Rex Grossman has made his share of mistakes this season—but the Bears struggles are in no way his fault. When Grossman has made plays, his supporting cast has failed to hold up its end of the bargain.
The Chicago offensive line is a joke. The line's ineptitude against the Redskins resulted in a serious injury to Grossman—and failures up front have doomed the Bears' running game all season.
If Bears fans have learned anything in the past few weeks, it's that Rex is NOT the problem.
On the contrary, the problem is the line, the wide receivers, the running game, and ultimately, the coaching staff and front office.
The entire Bears organization should be embarrassed by the product they've put on the field. I'm not advocating the firing of Lovie Smith here—but I am advocating the firing of offensive coordinator Ron Turner and GM Jerry Angelo.
Smith and Co. have to make serious changes this offseason. Without a thorough overhaul, next year could be even more agonizing.
My two cents: Give Rex some weapons—and some BLOCKERS—and he'll improve. He's shown that he can produce when given the opportunity. It's his team that's let him down.

How that man still has a job, I haven't a clue.

you hit the nail right on the head i am a long time bears fan born in Illinois spent most of my life there and now live out of state. Not having to listen to Chicago media whom killed Grossman last year after all he did was lead them to a super bowl with a questionable offense at best.Other than Devon Hestrer name one play maker??.Then to rid themselves of the defensive coordinator after the year they had was just stupid.people keep looking to see what injuries are causing the Bears trouble??iLook at who they let go Alfonso Boone,Tank Johnson,Ian Scott think any of those might help do you really think Babich is a better coordinator than Ron Rivera..no just Loviies friend.Angelo should go turner should go Lovie should be on a short lease next year And they let go of a saftey and a good one in training camp for who???Adam Archuleta another Lovie guy who is way past his priime

Finally, someone in the media realizes that this is not on Rex. Thank you.

Anonymous, I agree with all of your comments about players on the team, aside from letting go of Tank Johnson. Yes, it was proven that he wasn't guilty of DUI, but how many more brushes with the law were the Bears gonna put up with before they said enough is enough. Dallas is a more fitting place for someone like him.

When Rex went down with the injury, all the excitement I had about watching the game left. The air went out of the building so to speak. The final three games? I couldn't care less.
Something about having him at quarterback makes the game a lot more fun to watch. Maybe it's cuz you never know what the hell is going to happen. Maybe it's cuz he can throw the ball seventy yards, for someone to drop it.
I wrote a similar article, and I completely agree. The defense, o-line, and running game have all failed this team this year. Most notably the defense. The defense has been AWFUL. They can't make a critical stop to save their lives.
I really hope they put Kyle Orton in for the final three games. Not because I think he's any good, but it's better than watching Griese and his 5 yard passes.

I hope Orton goes in too. He only helped win a division title a couple years ago. He may just play decent. Now is the time to give other guys a chance.

First thing the Bears need to do is fire Ron Turner. He makes the same horrible calls week after week.
Second get offensive line help. These guys are getting old in a hurry. AND they can't run block.
Third tell Brian Griese to stop focusing on Devon Hester when he's on the field. Both INTs were easy picks, because Griese couldn't take his eyes off Hester.
Fourth is to get the defense healthy.
Fifth is to get rid of Jerry Angelo.
Sixth would be to let Adrian Peterson carry the ball more and let Cedric Benson go.
All of these would be steps in the right direction. How many of these will happen we will soon find out.

Unfortunately I don't see Angelo getting fired anytime soon. Ron Turner will probably get the ax. The only reason I see Angelo staying is because of last year's NFC Championship. I believe they won that title DESPITE Angelo.

thank god somebody realizes that rex has improved drastically and that the team as a whole has collasped....

We also need to hire a real defensive coordinator or let Lovie take over! THe defense is pitiful right now I am in shock of how disorganized and lost these guys look right now!
