Could this season be theseason for Sunderland? It seems as if this club could be on the up as they look to buy their way to Premier League survival and beyond.
The club have emphasised their ambitions recently with the capture of Marseille's Djibril Cisse on a season-long loan.
The former Liverpool ace becomes Roy Keane's seventh signing of the summer, having already signed quality players such as Pascal Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio, El Hadji Diouf and Steed Malbranque.
And it seems as if the Black Cats won't stop there, with even more high-profile names reportedly being on the verge of a move to the Stadium of Light. Michael Ball and Anton Ferdinand will apparently wrap up moves within the next day or so, while Northern Ireland's top goalscorer David Healy has reportedly completed his move to Sunderland today.

These transfer deals show Sunderland's ambition this season, and it is an ambition that is shared even by new signing Djibril Cisse, who knows what it is like to be at the top of the game with clubs like Liverpool and Marseille.
The French forward believes Sunderland will do well this season, after telling the club's official website: "I'm really pleased to join a good club with good players. Sunderland I think is going to achieve things."
With high profile names like Cisse and Healy entering the Stadium of Light, Sunderland will be hoping that they can reverse their result against Liverpool last weekend, and get a win against Tottenham, to kick start their season and show what the Black Cats can really do.
What do you think? Will Sunderland do well this season? Or will their new signings disappoint and put Sunderland in a relegation dogfight? Please feel free to post a comment.
