Week 10 is the last week of bye weeks on the NFL schedule. Fantasy football owners can rejoice, as the need to reshuffle rosters on a weekly basis due to off weeks is mercifully coming to an end.

The coming week brings the first of seven Thursday games, with three games on Thanksgiving. Which means roster maneuvering will need to be done a little earlier in the week in anticipation of lineup deadlines.

We are entering the stretch drive of the fantasy football season in most (if not all) leagues, and one or two shrewd roster moves can easily propel owners into contention for a title.

If you find yourself in need of a little roster refreshing, take a look at our “Week 10 Waiver Wire Pick Them Ups”  list for recommendations at each position.

David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Garrard is coming off a four touchdown, 260-yard game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 as his up and down 2010 continued.

The Jaguars take on the Houston Texans in Week 10, so he could make it two strong performances on each side of the team’s bye week.  The Texans entered Week 9 with the leagues worst pass defense, allowing multiple passing touchdowns in every game, but one.

Among the quarterbacks who have a bye this week are Drew Brees and Philip Rivers, which means fantasy owners who will be without either of those guys may find Garrard to be a solid fill-in.

He is available in 73 percent of Yahoo! leagues right now, and makes for an intriguing play this week.

Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints)

Bush broke his right fibula way back in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, and now appears on track to return after the Saints’ Week 10 bye.

He practiced sparingly throughout Week 9, and head coach Sean Payton stated that Bush is close to returning. Bush certainly adds an explosive element to the New Orleans offense, and also adds the bonus of the potential for a return touchdown as the Saints’ primary punt returner.

His extended absence may have led to him being dropped in many leagues, however, now looks like the time to add Bush and stash him if you have the roster space.  Given his usage as a receiver out of the backfield, Bush’s fantasy value is significantly better in PPR leagues, but he is valuable in standard leagues as well as a RB3.

Sidney Rice (Minnesota Vikings)

Rice has yet to play this season after undergoing hip surgery in August, but he began to practice more heavily this past week and speculation suggests he could return in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.

He should return to a significant role in the Vikings’ passing game upon his return to action, and his breakout 2009 campaign (83 receptions for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns) hints at his potential.

The uncertainty of Rice’s timetable to return to game action led to him being dropped in the majority of leagues over the course of the first nine weeks.

If you need a wide receiver and have the roster space, Rice is definitely worth adding and stashing for whenever he is able to return. Rice is available in over half of Yahoo! leagues right now.
