Hey Guys,
I am sure everyone is just as excited and pumped for the rest of the season as I am, thanks to the absolute demolition of the Clemson Tigers, 34-10.
As if the severe beating wasn't enough, here is some of the pregame talk, just to make it even sweeter.
- "Clemson is too good to screw it up this time."—Mark Schlabach, ESPN.com
- "It would be a colossal disappointment for Bowden and the ACC if the conference's best team choked in a high-profile opener. But it's not going to happen...Clemson 24, Alabama 14."—Cory McCartney, SI.com
- "Clemson is my pick for the National Championship Game."—Brent Musburger, ABC play-by-play man.
- Five out of five CBS "Experts" pick Clemson to win the game.
Oh yes, nothing but a bunch of wrong right there, but the tune all changed after the game.
- "Get away from Chick-fil-A and get back home to Death Valley and stop messing around with powers from
Sweet Home Alabama. Leave Auburn and Alabama alone. That's my suggestion, Clemson. Try UAB or Troy instead. See how that goes and then check back with me."—Gary Parish, cbssports.com
- B/R Ticket Guide
- "With such a rare combination of size and speed, Cody looks like the same kind of one-man wrecking crew as the former LSU star (Glenn Dorsey). Foes will have no choice but to double or triple-team him."—Stewart Mandel, SI.com
- "The team of the day was, without a doubt, Alabama. The 24th-ranked Crimson Tide plastered No. 9 Clemson 34-10. Put it this way: Even with talents like James Davis and C.J. Spiller, the Tigers rushed for an aggregate of zero freakin' yards against the 'Bama defense."—Eric Sorenson, cbssports.com
- "We were whipped pretty bad."—Tommy Bowden
It is starting to circulate that the team's motto for this game and the season is "Shock the F*#%$ng World!"—and it is safe to say that Bama did that in Week One.
Ok, I've broken the 24-hour rule, but I can't write this until Monday, so I apologize to Coach Saban.
Now, on to this week's topic.
There is so much to point out about Alabama's win from Saturday in a positive light that there is not enough time between now and Tulane to discuss it.
With that, this week's topic is: What was the MOST impressive thing from Alabama's win over Clemson?
Was it the offense? The defense? The recruits? The seniors?
As always, you can leave a comment below or write an article of your own about your choice.
That's all for this week, guys. See you next week after Tulane.
Roll Tide,
Nic

The ball control. 41 minutes and change of time possession meant only 19 and change for Clemson. The Tide defense played superb in its time on the field, only allowing 3 points. What goes hand-in-hand with that ball control was the fact that Alabama was 11-17 on third down conversions. Controlling the clock, not turning the ball over and converting on third downs and in the red zone is what impressed me the most. All those things go hand-in-hand. Clemson was never able to establish what they wanted. By the time they got the ball, they needed to throw to try and get quick points. 8 carries between Thunder and Lightning? That can't happen for Clemson. If something similar happens again, I'll have one more job than Tommy Bowden.

gulas,
nice article man. even though i'm an auburn tiger, you guys put a good old fashioned ass whooping on "the ACC's best." That wasn't even close. Alabama was above and beyond #9? Saturday night. 41 minutes of ball control. 0 RUSHING YARDS?!! This is supposedly the best 1-2 punch in the nation in the backfield. By the way, does anyone out there need anymore proof that the SEC is the toughest and best conference around? Well done, Tide. You guys proved that you will be a force this year, and that Julio Jones is a true stud. Best of luck this year, and I hope you play worse Thanksgiving weekend.

The most amazing thing was the total domination in all facets of the game. It reminded me of the older Bama teams in that although teams knew what was going to happen, Bama still executes without flaw regarless of the opposition. I am thankful for the win but you could see in the players how hard they had worked offseason and all summer.
I know it's still early however, should this team continue to work hard and improve, the sky is the limit. Coach Saban and his assistants are to be commended as well for developing an exceptional game plan and instilling into John Parker Wilson the confidence that he seemingly lacked in prior seasons.
I look very forward to the Tide's season and win lose or draw, I am part of the BAMA NATIKON! Roll Tide!

#1 Defense, Kept Clemson on their heals all night. #2 Offense, no turnovers, took advantage of good field position and as I remember put together one or two long drives. Running game looked great. Kicking game improved, some nice field goals. The only hiccup, one kickoff return. We looked great the start of last season and let it slip away. Everyone is doing to have to work hard not to let this happened again. Roll Tide!

Nic, trying to determine what was the one most impressive thing from Saturday's game is harder than Clemson trying to run against MT Cody and the Tide D.
I would have to say Bama's ability to drive the ball. One thing that I took from the game was the Tide's consitency in trying to make first downs instead of going for the big play. From the start of the game until the finish you could see Bama looking for nothing more than keeping drives alive by simply picking up first downs. Inside the 20 they didn't go for the touchdown right away when I thought maybe they should. They picked up yards and gave themselves more opportunities to score by getting an additional set of downs. I think if they can continue to move the ball like they did against Clemson, the big plays will come. Teams will have to start cheating up to stop the short passes and off tackle runs. And when they do, you can look for the big plays over the top.
JP was very impressive. He was calm and delivered a great game. Play action worked wonders. Third downs were well executed. No forced passes. Ran when he had to. Threw the ball away when needed. I think he finished 22 of 30. Two TDs, and one more rushing. The O-Line helped so much! The way the running backs ran helped so much! Young guys stepped up very early! JP and Tide Offense, keep it up and this will be a very special season for the Tide!!
