Rising UFC Light-Heavyweight contender Rashad Evans spent the majority of the first round avoiding former LHW champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell. Probably throwing less than 10 punches in the round,(while absorbing several from Liddell) Evans seemed content to dance the night away. The first round ended with an attempted head kick at the horn by Liddell, that just missed it's mark and may well have brought an end to the fight.
In the second round, Liddell was more agressive, pressing the action and forcing Evans' back to the cage several times early on. Forced to action, Evans finally began throwing punches, engaging in a hand full of flurries with "The Iceman".

It was at the 1:51 mark of the second round that Liddell went for the homerun with his fists, unfortunately for Chuck, Rashad Evans had the same idea. Liddell backed Evans into a corner and stepped in for an uppercut, at the same time Evans was countering with an overhand right that landed squarely on the jaw of Liddell. Either punch could have ended the match, but Evans' landed first.
The first crowd to see a UFC event in Atlanta fell quiet as Liddell hit the mat, and remained that way for several minutes before finally beginning to file out of the building.
For Evans, the win brings his record to an impressive 17-0-1.
The loss is the third in four fights for the 38 year old Liddell, and begs the question: Should he continue in the sport?
Evans struggled to connect on the few punches that he did throw, and most of those were in the quick exchanges he had with Liddell. But the big one that ended the night was the only one that really counted.
