No. 4 LSU and No. 11 Florida Very Even On Paper

This week’s marquee matchup in the SEC pits the past two National Champions against each other in a game between two Top 15 teams.

No. 4 LSU will travel to face No. 11 Florida in Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in a primetime matchup that will be featured on CBS.  Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m., eastern time.

The Tigers feature the SEC’s best running back, statistically speaking, in Charles Scott.  Scott has averaged over 133 yards per game through LSU’s first four games and he will be going up against a suspect defensive front seven for the Gators.

Florida has yielded nearly 100 yards per game to their opponents, a figure that puts them right in the middle of the SEC in that category.

However, the Gators’ pass rush has been as good as any in the SEC, coming into the contest with 13 sacks and tied for the second most in the conference.

LSU, on the other hand, boasts a terrific defensive line that has not put up the numbers.  The Tiger defensive front has only accounted for six sacks on the season, a number that is not indicative of their performance.

Teams have been forced to hurry their offense and get off quick, short routes to keep their quarterback from getting torn limb from limb.  If there is any quarterback in the SEC that can afford to hold onto the ball a little bit longer without risk of getting his head ripped off, it’s the guy the Tigers will face on Saturday night...
