I decided to try something new with my articles—possibly a weekly occurrence. What I concocted in my brain was a weekly column that pays respect to the idiots in sports or at the very least, something idiotic thing a sports figure does.
This week I have decided to make Monta Ellis the first ever Fred "The F-Bomb" Richani-presented Idiot of the Week.
Why is Monta Ellis an idiot, you ask?
Well, Mr. Ellis recently signed a $66 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors to be their two-guard and leader to a brighter future. Then, Monta Ellis decided to ride a moped and wound up seriously injuring his ankle in an accident involving one.
What is the result?
Ellis is now out until mid-December, but will do so while losing around $3 million n the process.
That is because the Warriors have suspended him for 30 games, due to Ellis apparently violating the terms of his new deal. There may not be specific terms in the context of his contract stating no moped rides, but as a professional athlete, one must be aware of the unwritten rules on things you should and should not do.
For Monta Ellis, that realization couldn't come at a worse time. Though, the real losers in this situation are the Baron Davis-less Warriors, who are incredibly thin in the guard position. Without No. 8, look for Golden State to falter in the Pacific Division—home of Western Conference Champion Los Angeles Lakers and defensively improved Clippers (Marcus Camby's presence should not be underrated).
By the way, the Warriors could technically have a viable reason to void out Monta Ellis's contract, due to him being injured in an extracurricular activity. It might not go that far, but stranger things have happened, folks.
Don't get me wrong, B/R Community. I love watching Monta Ellis play and hope that he has a great future ahead of him. However, this occurrence is a result of his stupidity. You already heard why, so in closing...
Monta Ellis—You're an Idiot.

You're right..it was a straight up dumb thing to commit. But everybody does something that's stupid. SJax fired a gun outside a nightclub..same shit. He also was involved in the famous Brawl in Detroit. But he came better when he landed in the Bay Area, he's the leader of the team. Monta's very very young and I think, with that 3 mil flying away...he might learn. It's part of life. Everybody has done something stupid! Just learning from them is the key to making you better.
Thanks for the article...although "idiot" and "stupid" are really uncalled for. But good job though!

Khalid, Stephen Jackson fired a gun outside a nightclub because he thought someone was going to run him down. So it wasn't exaclty a stupid decision to fire the gun. The second involved that brawl in Detroit he was protecting a teammate.
Is Monta Ellis an idiot or stupid for being young? No! You're right it's uncalled for. He made a mistake everyone makes them it's just that the public eye is on him since he's a basketball player. If it was not a professional athlete then it wouldn't be a huge deal.

yes "idiot" and "stupid" is really CALLED for on ellis' injury!!!! does anyone know if he was really on a moped or was he on a "MOPED"?? the dude lied from the begining, so maybe riding a moped as an excuse compared to riding a "MOPED" would lessen the fine and punishment.

"Idiot" is the usual state of being for most kids Monta's age. At that age, I did a lot of things a whole lot stupider than riding a moped, only I didn't have 63 million more dollars waiting for me in December. Before we jump on him too much, let's see how he responds to this. Anyone can make a mistake, a person should be judged on how they rise above it. By the way, it wouldn't have been stupid if he wouldn't have wrecked, also, the guy could afford the fastest bike available, was it stupidity that had him riding the geek-mobile instead of something that would have killed him? Yeah, probably.

Actually, Monta was to start as the Warriors' point guard.
There is a clause in the standard NBA contract in Section 12 about prohibiting riding a motorcycle or moped.
If Monta does not return to form, he could still have his contract voided.
