We the fans booed a lot today—probably more than you have heard in your time at West Virginia. But it's important for you, the players, to know that we weren't booing you. We were booing the coaching staff.

Yes, Syracuse was playing inspired ball today—but they were still the same Syracuse team we've watched all year long. It was easy to see from our vantage point that the play calling on offense was somewhere just below painful.

We would be surprised if OC Jeff Mullen doesn't give his paycheck back this week, because he didn't earn it.

Defensively, we didn't play badly. We gave up a lot of yards, but we feel like that was because the play calls on offense segued nicely into three and outs. Time of possession backs us up on that one.

Considering how poor the play calls were on offense, we'd say that the defense played one hell of a game!

We are sorry if you feel any of our booing was directed at you. Nothing could be further from the truth, and we hope you understand where we are coming from.

We know you are much better than what we saw today. We know that if there was anyone in the press box capable of calling a good game, you would have scored at will today.

So pass this along to the coaches and remind them that we don't boo our team—just our coaches.

  1. To the Boo Birds.
I don't care who you are booing, the players hear it, the recruits hear it, the families hear it and the country hears it. Yell, scream, cuss, do whatever you want, just don't boo. That player who just lost 2 yards doesn't hear "boo the coach". Call the talk shows, scream at the coaches, just don't boo.
    A players fan.
