Finally, race day

Good morning race fans—or should I say, Merry Christmas!

May 29 has finally arrived, and today we will find out who will win the 95th running of the Indianapolis 500. I bring you this article from here in the media center from inside the speedway. The sun still hasn't come up, but already you can feel the excitement and the buzz here at the track. The traffic appears to be picking up outside of the gates in anticipation of the opening at 6 am.

Things will officially kick off at 8 am with the Spectacle of Bands. At 9:50, multiple race cars from the 1911 race will take to the track for a couple of parade laps—that includes the famous Marmon Wasp. The Hot Wheels Fearless at the 500 stunt will take place at 10:30.

Driver introductions will begin around 11:30, with God Bless America following at 11:51. The National Anthem will be next at 11:54, and Taps being played at 12:02. Jim Nabors will perform Back Home Again in Indiana at 12:03, and the command to fire up the engines is set for 12:05. We will see the green flag at 12:12 if things go accordingly.

All the practice sessions have been run, the rain has come and gone and we lived all of the drama that is Pole Day and Bump Day. There are countless story lines that we are eager to see play out. In just a few hours, we will have all of our answers, and a new champion will be crowned.

The 67 drivers that have won this race will tell you there is nothing else they would rather do than win here at Indy. Every driver wants to taste the milk this afternoon, but watching how the race unfolds is why we watch. Best of luck to all of the drivers, and may the best team win.
