According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians are looking for a number three starter. While the Indians have a couple young starters with potential behind Lee and Carmona, they would like to add an established pitcher who can put up double-digit wins. With that said, Jon Garland could be their guy.
- B/R Ticket Guide
While he might return to the Angels, Garland may like Cleveland considering he pitched in Chicago for several seasons and is very familiar with the division. He is just twenty-nine years old and could be on the verge of peaking. Garland made twelve million in 2008 and is probably looking at that or a little more in 2009. I'd say a three year deal worth somewhere between 30-36 million dollars would get it done.

I sure to god hope not. I thought we just got rid of Paul Byrd. That's what we'd be signing for 10-12 million per year. Look at the numbers. Poor K/rate, worse control than Byrd, but a better ground ball rate to balance it out. I am pleading that we not sign Garland to such a disastrous contract unless the Indians want a 5.00 ERA for three years from their "#3 starter".

Jon Garland would only help the Indians . He is a great pitcher he did not have his best year in 2008 but I believe any team would be better with him he is a great pitcher ,I just dont think he felt that good being on the Angels look what he did in Chicago he was great!!!Won The World Series. I Love Jon Garland and the Indians would be lucky to get him.

Not at 10 million dollars a year.

Jon Garland is making 12 million and well worth it . I think the Indians would be smart to sign him .

The Indians don't have 12 million to spend on a pitcher like Garland, even if he was worth it, and in my opinion, he isn't.

I'm not so sure that Garland would be a safe play. We do have guys like Sowers and Aaron Laffy, or even Scott Lewis. who could possibly do the trick without having to spend money we do not have on someone who is not a gaurentee. I'm with Nino and Micheal not for who he want's and not to end up getting Paul Byrd production out of him. Also don't forget about Jake Westbrook. I say go with what we have, which with a new season and clean slate may not be all that bad anyway, and then next season go after an ace since I am just not so sure that's what Lee and Carmona are. Although I could be wrong.
