The Knicks played absolutely fantastically in the opening game against the Heat.

They look like they are determined to win, and they haven't played this good as a team since the Van Gundy era. A full effort from ten out of the 12 players on the team—the ten that played.

Stephon Marbury and Eddy Curry spent the game on the bench. Why? Most likely because of the fact that they are the face of the "Isiah era."  Curry last season lacked rebounding abilities and was lazy on defense, but is that a reason to keep him on the bench the whole game? Not at all, he is still a tremendous offensive force and a much more feared big man than Zach Randolph, in my opinion.

Curry needs at least 20 minutes a game.  Some nights he is feeling it and he can not be stopped. If Curry is able to run in Coach Mike's offense, then he should be able to play.

Stephon Marbury is a great player. Yeah, it has been said by a die hard Knicks fan. Stephon doesn't deserve to start, but he should play. He adds another three-point weapon, he steals the ball, and would excel in D'Antoni's system.

  1. i wasn't too impressed. yeah we played well. but we have been beating the heat for a while now. and we gave up 115 points to them. imagine when we play a team better than them. and since they suck, that wont be hard. i do like how lee and randolph are working out. but my thing is, curry wont ft. he never could. even if he showed up in shape. can he run the floor in 6 seconds? can you imagine curry running through the lane fo cutters to the hoop
? nope. he was set up for failure from the moment dantoni came. dantoni just lucked out that curry is out of shape. it made benching him a lot easier and gae him better reason. but like kenny smith said, he is still 1 of our best players.he should play. benching him will not raise his trade value. as for marbury? i see him getting cut and going to a contender. dantoni isn't handling curry properly. he's so freakin sensitive. if you want him to play well, you gotta pamper him. not only does benching him make him depressed and whiny, it lowers his value. and unless they want to let him sit on the bench till 2011, that is a problem

  2. The Heat aren't that bad anymore, they could contend for the eigth seed this season. I think Curry and Marbury just need to be dealt now, but not many teams are going to take their contracts now. Yes, D'Antoni should play them, but if the team keeps winning, there's nothing wrong with benching them. If Curry and Marbury want to play, they have to show that in practice and play defense (which isn't that hard with D'Antoni as your coach).

  3. The HEAT are weak. Outside of Wade, you have role players, and a star-to-be in Beasley... but it'll take time. The Knicks looked good offensively, but they showed signs of the old knicks in the end. They were not moving the ball like they did when they made big runs. Their defense needs work, but it is a work in progress. I feel we will need Marbury. He is the best all around player we have. I have no idea why Mardy Collins gets any minutes whatsoever. I think Marbury is the key for the knicks, if he plays the way he can play. Before the season, they said all the knicks would have a freshstart... I don't think that is the case with Starbury. They are looking at what happened last year... what about the other years in NY? Curry I can understand the benching... came to camp out of shape and he doesn't play hard. I think coach should continue to work with him and work him into the rotation off the bench. My feeling is if Marbury gets the nod, only good things can happen for NY.
